CISO Salaries Hit New Highs
Higher salaries and lower turnover make it harder for companies to find top cyber talent.
As cyber security gains more visibility at the top, and the cyber talent shortage continues, the CISO salaries of full-time experienced professionals are rising. The latest research shows that the average salary of a US-Based CISO has risen to over $550,000 per year. Some senior positions pay over $1 MM USD.
The fifth annual CISO Compensation Report from IANS Research and Artico Search is based on the responses of 755 CISOs. A key finding is that annual compensation for US CISOs is now $565K. The top 25% of CISOs receive more than $620K, the top 10% receive more than $1M, and the top 1% receive roughly $3M USD.
The data also shows that CISO turnover is shrinking, and people are staying longer at their existing positions. This likely reflects the trend of great visibility of cyber security risks at the Board and Senior management level.
